Race Organiser: Kieran Hickey
This is a category "B" Long Fell Race. It is mandatory (as specified by the FRA) to carry the equipment specified below for your own safety. There will be kit checks at registration before your number is issued; at the start of the race; and also during and at the end of the race. Any runner found without the required kit will be DISQUALIFIED AND REPORTED TO THE FRA. 14_Competitors_Safety_Rules_and_Equipment.pdf
While every effort has been made to ensure that these grid references are correct it should be remembered that they only refer to a 100m by 100m square on the ground. They may also be subject to slight variation or change. If this occurs we will let you know on our Totley AC Home Page and will direct you to this table from there. If you have any feedback then please do not hesitate to contact the Race Director.
This is a category "B" Long Fell race. In addition to having the mandatory equipment as stated above, it is essential that all competitors realise the seriousness of the undertaking. We have been very fortunate in recent years with the weather but do not take this for granted. You must visit all the checkpoints in the prescribed order, punching your race number at the last two checkpoints. The route you choose for the entire course is up to you – but do not climb over walls or fences. There is over 4000' of climb throughout the length of the race. The route is not marked but is partially marshalled. There are three water stations but you should not be relying on them, as you should be aiming to get round the course carrying your own provisions. Navigational skills are therefore essential and experience of fell running or similar is also desired. You are responsible for providing your own map. There are 6 road crossings on the route some of which can be quite busy. Only 2 of these are by marshalled checkpoints. There will be warning signs for motorists but it is your responsibility to ensure you cross the road safely. Traffic will not be stopped for you. There may be cattle and other livestock on sections of the course. Please treat them with respect, especially if there are cows with calves.
There will be post race massage available provided by Mi.To Therapy with voluntary donations.

Please note that the change made to Check point 6 will remain:
CP 6 was moved to 251 817 where the path across Mitchell’s Field exits on to the road. There will be a marshal at this checkpoint. This is to ensure that runners do not cross the Private Land that is out of bounds. We don’t want to upset any more landowners than is necessary. Please also note that maps will not be provided on the day. You are expected to carry your own maps suitable for navigation of the course. The route straddles both the OS maps of the Peak District!
Runners taking part in the 2014 Exterminator race will be able to benefit from free sports massage and physiotherapy.
Leading Sheffield practice MiTo Therapy will be offering treatments to competitors before and after the popular annual race, which starts at 10.30am on Sunday 7 September 2014.
MiTo sports massage specialists will once again be on hand to prepare runners as part of their warm-up and also provide treatments to aid recovery at the end of the 16 mile course
Donations to MiTo Therapy’s chosen charity, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, will be welcome.
