Stage 4
Hathersage Station (145m) to Grindleford Station (140m) via Eyam Moor Trig (429m)
Approx 11.7km and 356m climb
This stage takes you South and West of the Derwent up Eyam Moor. The start is on the road under the railway bridge and across the river just before the Plough Inn, before taking the second turning on the right up Leam Lane past Hazleford Hall. The steep path here cuts a corner of the road, which you then follow until the stile after Leam farm that takes you all the way to the disused section of Sir William Hill Road. After a climb up and back to the trig point our preferred route heads straight across the track towards Eyam Youth Hostel and Town End for a longer, but more pleasant route down to Grindleford bridge. The turning to Grindleford station is up the road, just past the Maynard Hotel. The ticket machine is on Platform 1, and there is a café at the station.
